Profil

I graduated in chemistry (University of Guanajuato - 2014), where I had the opportunity to carry out short research internships to explore and learn about different areas that could be of interest for my personal development. These areas were: magnetic nanomaterials for hyperthermia (2011 - Florence, Italy), electrochemistry - fuel cells (2012 - Messina, Italy) and environmental chemistry - water (2013 - Quebec, Canada). These research internships opened my interest in the development of nanomaterials. So my bachelor thesis was carried out in the study of gold nanoparticles, by sonochemical synthesis, under the supervision of Dr. Lourisa Cabrera and Dr. Pilar González (Centro Conjunto de Investigaciones Sustentables UAEMex-UNAM - Toluca and Laboratorio Nacional UG - Guanajuato).

In 2015, I had the opportunity to join the NANO team of LCMCP research group (Laboratoire de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Paris) at Collège de France (Sorbonne Université, CNRS), to carry out my master's degree project for the development of metal oxysulphides with the supervision of Dr. Sophie Carenco (CNRS). In the same year, at the end of my master's degree, I joined the GreenMat research group at the University of Liège in Belgium, to do my PhD. As I did not obtain the FRIA-FNRS funding, I worked as a research engineer to set up a system for the synthesis of nanomaterials (Schlenk line).

In 2016 I obtained a grant from the Agence National de Recherche (ANR), to develop my PhD project on the synthesis and characterisation of magnetic nanocrystals, under the direction of Dr. Isabelle Lisiecki and Pr. Christophe Petit at MONARIS research group (UMR 8233) at Sorbonne Université, where I obtained my PhD in September 2019. After arduous job research (around the world) in R&D of materials in the industry as well as academia, after a large number of interviews that were not successful, in September 2020, I obtained a CONACYT grant for a postdoctoral fellowship at Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica (Optical Research Center - CIO) in the Nanophotonics and Functional Materials group, for the development of inorganic optical materials (hackmanites and perovskites) for the prevention of skin cancer, under the supervision of the PI. Eduardo Coutiño.

Passionate about development and research in materials science, with a special interest in the synthesis and characterization of nanocrystals, their individual and collective properties, as well as the interaction of binders in nanocrystals. I am currently leaving my comfort zone (nanomaterials), to enter into solid-state synthesis for the study of hackmanites and perovskites.

Sports Experience

Swimming : I was a high performance swimmer for 10 years, where I was able to participate in state, regional and national competitions. I also had the opportunity to swim in competitions in France, during a sabbatical year (2007-2008). Nowadays I still practice it on a regular basis, just as a hobby.
Volley ball I have been playing since I was a child, I participated in several tournaments with the high school team (position: passer) and the University of Guanajuato team (Abejas) in the libero position.
